Audio Capture Choppy and Clicking

Jan 31, 2011 at 3:11 PM

Hi All

I have a project that uses NAudio to record the incoming audio form a microphone and compress it to G711 and the send it Via RTP to a external device

I am having some problem with the audio recording on windows XP where i am getting choppy audio and it clicks i think at the end of a audio packet

I have played around with changing the BufferMilliseconds and BufferNumers but it still doesn’t make any difference I have also tried different sound card and still the same

If i use the code on my Windows 7 PC it all works perfectly but the Test pc is windows XP and i always happens on this pc

Any suggestions would be gratefully received

Thanks

Hi

I sorted the problem thanks it was to do with the buffering with NAudio

Is there a way to limit the input volume on a wave stream whrn recording?

Thanks

when recording, the user should adjust the microphone gain using the windows mixer controls or you will get distortion. Once NAudio receives the sample values, it can reduce them, but its too late to avoid clipping.
